Virtual Teen Council

Virtual teen council is open to all teens ages 13-18 in Pierce County. Virtual Teen Council will meet every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., starting Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024.

In-Person Teen Councils

  • Franklin Pierce High School (only open to FPHS students): Third Fridays at 3 p.m., starting Friday, Sept. 20.
  • Interim Lakewood Library: First Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. starting Thursday, Oct. 3.
  • South Hill Pierce County Library: First Meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 4 – 5:30 p.m. It will meet the first and third Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. There will be no meeting Nov. 5.
  • University Place Pierce County Library: Second and fourth Tuesdays at 4 p.m., starting Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024. There will be no meeting Tuesday, Oct. 22.
  • Gig Harbor Pierce County Library: Second and fourth Fridays from 3:30-4:30 p.m., starting Friday, Oct 11, 2024

What to Expect

Participants in Teen Councils can expect to receive:

  • One hour of volunteer service per meeting attended.
  • Mentorship from library staff.
  • Opportunities to steer library programs and services.
  • Leadership experience.

Participants will:

  • Assist library staff in creating and hosting teen programs.
  • Design book displays.
  • Create social media content for the @PCLTeens Instagram account.
  • Assist in library activities and special projects.
  • Meet new people.
  • Play games.

Eligibility

There is no application process for Teen Council. Teens ages 13-18 are invited to attend.
